  "A roaring lion" my ass. Cause and effect. Become a religious fanatic and you'll reap the hatred of more stable people. Don't put air in your tires, suffer bad milage. Walk down the street minding your own business and a gang banger shoots you from his car. Its all cause and effect. It just happens to be that we didn't know we were walking in the middle of a gang territory with the wrong color shirt. The cause is there, we just happen to be ignorant. The effect could have been expected if we were informed. We just aren't always informed. Often its the survivors who are informed.

  Sad but true. Satan? Not a problem...... Satan makes Jehoover valid.

  a friend of mine said an elder in his congregation who attended gave a part on the service meeting lastnight about the upcoming campaign and one of the things he said was during one of the gb talks at the annual meeting i think he said it was morris stated that "the governing body is certain that jehovah's day is getting near" anyone go to that meeting or also heard this?

  can they verify?

  his reasoning for his part was no wonder the year text is zepheniah 1:14 and we are presenting this tract "false religion's end is at hand" .

  "The Great Tribulation is near" translates into, "You'all come back now, ya'hear?" Eveybodys leaving because this generation could be two hundred years in length. Why cry with the saints when you can laugh with the sinners?

  Bible Study - what do you think of this?

  i cant help thinking that the original "bible students" did things the right way compared to how its done today.

  they sat together in small groups, read and discussed scriptures and then wrote down their findings.

  they did this until they had gone through the whole bible.. i know that reading the entire bible is a prerequisite for becoming a jw, but i wonder how many jws really do it or if most of them just know the regular snippets of scripture which are quoted in the magazines, and of course in field ministry etc.. i have decided that allthough i have read the bible - i think i am going to do a study of it the way these early bible students did, im going to read paragraph by paragraph and write down my findings and my feelings about what is written.

  The best book I ever reead by the society was The Commentary on the Letter of James. Interestingly, the guy who authored it was kicked out! Ed Dunlap. He did a verse by verse commentary on the letter and its the most practical information I've ever seen in a WT book. It truly teaches a great ethic and is so practical. Sure it has WT crap in it, but its easily overlooked due to the superior nature of the majority of the information.

  It's out of print, imagine that. It's on the WT cd though.

  Its easy to preach sacrifice to people who have to work full time to pay for car insurance, rent, house payments, health insurance, food, kids clothes... when you live in a fully paid apartment in New York with all those things provided and all you have to do is spend your days making dumbass pronouncements like these.

  As I look back at the survival rate among dub chilluns, I agree that you are right. Let me see. family one, 5 kids = none in. Family two, 4 kids = one in. Family three, two kids = one trying to get reinstated. Family four, 6 kids = none baptized... oldest fading. Family five, two kids = none baptized. Family six, one kid = not baptized, gone. Family seven, four kids = one in prison, one inactive and two who don't care...

  On the whole I'd say more than half have just left the organization.

  Amazing they could have such good sense after being raised in th borg.

  You speak truth Drewsagan. I could never fathom the whole destruction of everyone but "us", lie. As a kid I was mortified by the idea. The picture in the paradise lost book of the earth opening and swallowing people made such an impression on me. If you think hellfire creates fear, just be 10 years old and look at that illustration and think about it being you falling in that crevice!

  I call paradise, "Picnic with a panda" world because of the tract. Both illustrations are so stupid, destruction and paradise.

  Better to love and be respectful of all your assets, people and otherwise, while kicking.
